Flower-less Daffodils Layout

I love taking a “theme” kit and using it for something different.  It can sometimes be a challenge to think outside of the box and focus just on the colors or “feel” of the papers when trying to pair them with photos for a scrapbook layout.

This month’s Club Scrap kit is called Daffodils. Since I live where (sadly) there are no daffodils I had to find other pictures to use when creating a layout.  The colors worked perfectly with photos from a hiking trail near me:
I also had inspiration for this layout from the bonus Page Formula that is available to Club Scrap kit members.  Everything I used came from my Daffodils kit except:

**The “Kealia Trail” title was cut using my Scan N Cut (Liverpool font).

**The Scallop Tag used for the title was altered using Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey Distress Stain, and Tangerine Club Scrap ink, then edged with E47 Copic Marker.

**The “Lovely” Woodcut was altered using Mowed Lawn Distress ink.

It is possible to buy the Chiffon flowers, the Corduroy Buttons and the Cutaparts separately, or you can just buy the whole kit and have even more fun!  But remember, this collection will not last forever.

Twisted Black & White

A few weeks ago, I was experimenting with a technique that didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it to.  I was left with a piece of cardstock covered with Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink that was not bad enough to throw away, so it went into my “art orphan” box to be used on a future project.  When I discovered this month’s challenge over at Stamp TV, I know I found a use for that orphan.

The Monthly Mix Challenge at Gina K Designs’ Stamp TV is to make a black and white card…with a pop of one other color…and it has to have a bow.  My orange panel paired well with black and white to make this card:
I stamped the border stamp from an old Gina K. Designs set called “Flower Border Duo” (which sadly is no longer available) onto black cardstock with VersaMark ink, then embossed it with White powder also from Gina K Designs.  I did the same with the sentient from the set onto the orange panel.  Then, using THIS sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I assembled my card.

Other supplies I used are:

**Paper from Gina K Designs and Club Scrap.

**The flower is a stamp/die combination from Heartfelt Creations (also no longer available – I guess I dug deep into my stash for this card!).

** Black India ink from Club Scrap was used to stamp the flowers.

**The flowers were sprayed with Pearl Mica Spray from Ranger to add shimmer.

**The flowers were outlined with YR07 Copic Marker.

**The ribbon is from Club Scrap’s Retreat 2008 kit.

**The gems are from my stash.

Since I had left overs from the two panels that were cut at an angle, I also made this card:
The sentiment stamp is from I Break For Stamps.  This card will be going to Card Care Connection.

Splatters

This month’s Club Scrap technique challenge is to put splatters on a project.  I admit that I am not a big fan of splatters, but I do feel a little more in control when I use a stamp to make a “faux mess” on my card.  I used a stamp from Club Scrap’s Comfort Zone kit to add splatters to the background of this card:
I stamped the splatter stamp using VersaMark ink then dusted it with Plum and Forever Green Perfect Pearls.  An easy, simmery, fun background!  Here is a closer view of the "mess":
The focal image started with a piece of Ranger sticky back canvas painted with Indigo, Pthalo Green and Ultramarine Blue Color Bursts.  I then stamped it with a word stamp from Club Scrap’s Time of Your Life kit and embossed it with gold embossing powder. (I apologize – this is an art orphan and I can’t remember which powder I used).  The nautilus is a stamp from Club Scrap’s Fossils kit, stamped with VersaMark ink, embossed with Ranger Tarnished Gold powder then fussy cut.

Other supplies I used are:

**Paper from Club Scrap and Gina K Designs

**The sentiment is a stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps, stamped with Sapphire Club Scrap ink and embossed with Fine Detail Clear powder from Gina K. Designs.

**The ribbon is from Club Scrap’s Creative License kit.

**The nailheads are from Mark Richards, altered with B99 Copic Marker.
