On the Edge Snarky

There are so many great challenges out there that I love being able to make one project that qualifies for two or more at once.  Here is my card that fits for two May Club Scrap challenges:
The NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) challenge is to use a snarky or funny sentiment stamp.  My sentiment (“Today is the last day of some of your life” – with “uggh…happy bday!” inside) is from the Club Scrap kit Comics. It is stamped on a scrap piece of vellum using Jet Black Staz-On ink.

The Technique challenge is to stamp and cut an edge border for your card.  I used a stamp from the Club Scrap kit BandanaRama. After stamping it three times with Ivory Gina K. Designs ink, I embossed it using Clear WOW powder.  I then fussy cut along one side and mounted it onto my black card base.

The other panel is an art orphan from my stash (yes, I am still trying to use them up while waiting to have more time to play around making new ones). The focal image is the same Club Scrap stamp that I used on the edge.  This time I stamped with Distress Embossing ink, and embossed using Midnight Gold powder from Lindy’s Stamp Gang. I colored the image using Liquid Pearls (Daffodil, Key Lime and Flamingo) and a paintbrush with just a hint of water. The image is fussy cut and edged with a black Copic marker to even out my not so great cutting.

All the paper came from Club Scrap. The “gems” came from the Club Scrap kit Paradise. The ribbon is upcycled. The stamps that I used are no longer available, but Club Scrap has other fun stamps. If you have a couple of minutes, click here to check out what is available now.

A Hint of Pink While Nesting

Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge is “A Hint of Pink”. I am not opposed to pink, but it is not one of my favorite colors, so using just a little bit of it is good for me. I created a set of nesting boxes using the 9 of Spades from Club Scrap’s Assembly Line Cardmaking Idea Deck Volume 2:

These two boxes were made from one 12x12 piece and two 8.5x11 pieces of card stock.   All the paper and stamps used for this project are from Club Scrap. The other supplies used are:

**The pink flowers on the box tops are Prima Flowers that were white. I colored them pink by mixing a few drops of Picked Raspberry Distress re-inker with some water and “painting” the mixture onto the flowers. The yellow flowers are from Michaels. The brads are from my stash.

**I used Distress Embossing ink to stamp the images on the side panels of the boxes and followed that up with WOW Clear embossing powder.

**Mowed Lawn and Mustard Seed Distress ink was used to ink the edges of the side panels.

**The pink ribbon is from Ellen Hutson.

**The bling is from my stash, altered with RV29 Copic Marker to match the other pink colors.

The Idea Decks from Club Scrap are fabulous! You get 52 cards, each with detailed cutting instructions and patterns, most will make two or more cards (or sometimes gift boxes like this one). They are a great way to jump start your projects. Right now they only have this deck in stock, but I am hoping that they get the others back soon. Oh, and they have Scrapbook Layouts decks that I hope will be coming back in stock too!

Sit by the Sea

It is good to be back in my crafty state of mind again. Somewhere between a trip to the mainland, and a big “spring cleaning/reorganization” project my creative mojo seemed to take a hike. I don’t know about you, but it is frustrating when that happens…and sometimes so hard to get over. For me, jumping in to a good challenge can be a big help. This week’s “Great Outdoors” Challenge at Simon Says Stamp proved to be just what the crafty doctor ordered. Here is what I made:
The background is an art orphan from my stash. I am trying to be better about notating what product I use for these, but this was done a while ago and I didn’t make notes.

Here are the supplies that I used:

**Paper from Gina K. Designs and Club Scrap.

**Sentiment stamp is from Seaside Stampin’ Ink, inked with Distress Embossing ink and embossed with Silver Zing embossing powder. I then “traced” over it with B99 Copic marker to tone it down a bit.

**Image stamp is from Club Scrap (Castaway kit – unfortunately no longer available), stamped with Distress Embossing Ink, embossed with Spring Leaf Chartreuse EP from Lindy’s Stamp Gang. I colored over parts of the stamp with G94, BG99, B99 and BG45 Copic Markers.

**The silver strip is some crepe paper ribbon that I flattened out then stamped with a “water” stamp from Seaside Sampin’ Ink using Midnight Blue StazOn ink.

**I also used some Faded Jeans Distress ink on the edges.

I used this week's Mojo Monday card sketch as inspiration, although I did tweak it a bit to fit with my image stamp.
